Situated in the Koranna Mountains, in the Free State Province of South Africa, lies our unspoiled hunting concession. With stunning views of the Koranna Mountain range. Spectacular night skies and stunning sunsets, one can truly experience unspoilt Africa. Our area is situated in the centre of South Africa, approximately 5000 feet above sea level and is Malaria free.
We offer the hunter the opportunity to hunt Plains Game and Dangerous Game species on our beautiful hunting ranch located in South Africa’s orange
free state. We offer fully guided hunts with a professional hunter on a 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 basis, we also have package deals available upon request.
LODGING
Cabbage tree lodge is an old sandstone farm house dating back to the late 1800’s, which offers you the charm of yesterday.

The lodge has five en-suite bedrooms which are very comfortable and tastefully furnished. In addition to the comfortable accommodation, we serve delicious traditional South African dishes along with fine South African wines thus ensuring a wonderful and unforgettable experience in a very beautiful area of Southern Africa.
PLAINS GAME
Whether the target species is the mighty Eland or the diminutive Duiker the skills required for plains game hunting in South Africa and the excitement of the hunt is the same. Here at Koranna Mountain Safaris, the hunting day starts early with a drive out to the hunting area seeking a spot with a wide view over the land, glassing the veldt with binoculars you seek the target species, once spotted you hunt on foot, keeping out of sight and downwind of the target keeping low and making no sound, many of the hunted species are herd animals and with many eyes ears and noses on guard the slightest error can spoil your hunt.
Having approached close enough for you to be confident with the range you take your shot. Hopefully you have shot well and the target is down, you walk to the target and check the animal is dead, and call up the back up to collect you and your trophy, whilst you wait it is a good time to take photographs for you to remember this occasion, you load your beast and drive to the butchery, here it
will be gralloched and skinned by our staff, you decide how you
want your trophy prepared, the standard in Africa is a chest mount but if you prefer a skull mount or even a full body mount that is
not a problem.

Then back to lodge for a well earned breakfast/brunch depending on how long you have been out. Once your meal has settled it is back out for an afternoon hunt. At the end of the day you return to the lodge for sundowners and supper, hopefully getting a good nights sleep to start your adventure again the next morning.
WINGED GAME
An exciting hunting opportunity that most hunters associate with the likes of Argentina and Uruguay is Dove shooting.

Here in our very own Orange Free State in South Africa, we can provide the finest of opportunities for wing shooting. Acres of unprotected sunflower crop lay home to Red-Eyed Doves and Rock Pigeons who prey off the seeds of the sunflower plants and cause devastating damage
if allowed to do so. Less than an hours travel from base camp, the native birds provide a fast paced, target rich environment for a
keen sportsman and memories that last a lifetime!
